As we wrote in of our initial blog posts on our educational resource for online marketing for lawyers, LawFirmsAdvertising.com, the most important thing in online marketing is distribution. So, when we began building our platform, we included self-publishing tools that allow ExpertHub professionals to tap into our audience in ways that other legal directories and lead generation sites do not.

ExpertHub was created with the premise that there should be a better way for local professionals to advertise online. We believe that online marketing is immensely powerful. However, we also believe it is incredibly complicated for one to do well when they have another business to attend to.

On August 13, 2008, we launched the first version of the ExpertHub Performance-Driven Directory platform. In subsequent posts, we’ll describe in detail some of the features that make the ExpertHub solution unique for both consumers and professionals. However, before we do that, it makes sense to outline the strengths and weaknesses of both online directories and lead generation and describe how the ExpertHub solution brings together the best of both worlds.

Welcome to the ExpertHub blog! Since this is our first entry, I thought we would start by providing a little perspective on online directories and our approach to the market.

One of our goals at ExpertHub is to make online marketing a lot simpler and more effective for professionals. We have found that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) are often too complicated or time consuming for professionals to figure out while they are busy running their practice. And taking the quick road by simply getting listed in an online directory – like the yellow pages – is difficult to measure and often doesn’t generate consumer leads.
